Celebrating the Joys of Easter

On April 12th  University Heights Health and Living Community in Indianapolis, Indiana held its annual Easter egg hunt for the community. It was a beautiful day and more than 200 children turned out to hunt eggs. According to Activities Director Debbie Pietsch, the residents of University Heights filled over 1,000 plastic eggs with jellybeans and candy to be hidden and found.

“They loved filling the eggs,” said Debbie. “Our residents love the children and get as much joy filling the eggs as the children do when they are found.” The children were divided in groups according to ages and sent out to hunt. There were 12 golden eggs which came with special prizes. “We gave out large stuffed animals, special gift baskets with bubbles and toys, and a movie pass that came with a box of candy and popcorn,” Debbie reported. An egg-citing and egg-cellent time was had by all.

On April 17th University Heights hosted an Easter dinner for the residents and their families. More than 250 people attended. Chefs Coop and Amber Chance prepared a wonderful meal of glazed spiral ham, scalloped potatoes, green beans, and strawberry shortcake. The tables were laid out with Easter baskets holding the rolls, and decorations.

The community was filled to the brim with families who were served by the administration, and staff. A barbershop quartet named Speedbump strolled throughout the community singing songs from the 40’s and 50’s. “It was a great success,” Debbie said. “We had a very relaxed dinner and everyone told me how much they loved the entertainment.”
